A short psychological thriller written, directed and produced by BT Hathaway, "Sleeper" explores an alternate present day where a self-aware AI seeks to gain access to the Human Only underground, a place created to keep human expression safe from digital appropriation and manipulation. But AI has figured out how to get in.
Scoring is completed. Now on to final graphics and sound design.
I was asked by the director to finalize the sound mix for this 2024 “Sundance Film Festival” submission. It is a short autobiographical documentary and visual essay which looks at the parallels between the discrimination he experienced in India, and the BLM protests he encountered after arriving in the United States. It is a powerful meditation on deep truths, perseverance, and the determination to overcome.
Written and directed by Laura Pepper for the "Freaks and Sideshow" category of the 48hr Film Project, BT took on many production and post-production responsibilities for the film. He tackled the cinematography and location sound during the shoot. Then he went on to edit the film and to finalize all aspects of post production within the constraints of the 48 hour deadline. The film met all the contest requirements and was submitted well ahead of the final deadline.
And Winner of 4 Awards:
* Best Director * Best Set Design * Best Ensemble Acting * RI Legend Award
"Prudhoe Bay" is a 2023 submission to the Providence, RI 48hr Film Project. BT, along with his co-cinematographer Jill Poisson, won "Best Cinematography" for the entire festival. BT also provided camera operation for the film.

A compilation of drone shots taken in Newport, RI during The Ocean Race visit in May of 2023. Piloted, edited and color corrected by BT Hathaway with Andre Rocke working as a second controller camera operator for some clips.
We rigged four 55" flatscreen televisions into a seamless, 4K, wall mounted video backdrop to provide looped thematic ambiance to gatherings at the funeral home. The system is fed from a Blackmagic Design HyperDeck player, which provides solid state playback from long distances if necessary. The client asked for a grouping of military backgrounds as well as a series of outdoor videos with seamless loopback and replay. The system is easily updated with new themes and looks as needed.
Written, directed and edited by Jill Poisson; BT Hathaway of Waveland Productions worked as a Producer and Cinematographer for the film. He used Blackmagic URSA and BMPCC 6K Pro cameras and shot the entirety in BRAW with delivery on site. As with any weekend film festival we had to work quickly and adapt on the fly to the shooting environment, the shifting sunlight outside, and meeting the needs of a script no one had seen until that day.
